Join us for an exciting workday in Roseboro where we will be holding the very first workday to begin clearing a new section of the MST on a recently acquired trail easement between the Western District Park and Will Road. We will be clearing vegetation and debris to begin opening up and improving visibility along the 3/4 mile corridor. This new trail corridor has only been seen by a handful of people involved in the process of acquiring the easement and we can’t wait to share it with others and begin to see the trail take shape!
The days events will be focused on establishing the exact path of the trail within the 30′ easement to avoid obstacles as well as clearing small trees and undergrowth. This will open up sight-lines along the new trail corridor and make space for future large tree removal and soothing of the trail-bed.
WHERE: Meet at Roseboro’s Western District Park at 701 W Clinton St, Roseboro, NC 28382
DIRECTIONS: Western District Park is a large open park with multiple ball fields and a paved walking trail that encircles it. We will be parking and meeting up in the gravel parking area to the South that will be on the far left upon driving into the park. We will park there and walk along the paved trail to the new easement area.
WHAT TO BRING: Loppers, clippers, hand saws, mattocks, extra water, gloves, sun screen, bug spray, and a packed lunch/snacks. Please make sure to label your tools so that yours go home with you. If you don’t have any of these tools, we will provide what is needed.
WEAR: Work gloves, sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, long socks, a long shirt, and a hat for sun protection.
