The NPS, BRP is replacing two bridges at Cascades Picnic Area, MP 272. Assistance in needed to carry building materials to the trail crossing and with construction.

Trail Work / Overnight at Linville Mountain @ Linville Mountain

Join our working 2-day backpacking trip by the Bald Knob Task Force to Linville Mountain north of Marion. It will be a relatively easy 3 mile hike in to the campsite, mostly along the North Fork of the Catawba River. Each person is responsible for their own camping gear and chow. Tools will be provided and each participant is asked to carry one tool in.

Gathering of Friends @ Surf City, NC

Join us for the annual Gathering of Friends at Surf City. You’ll get to hear the latest MST news, meet fellow trail enthusiasts, learn new skills and explore some of the special places along the Coastal Crescent route of the MST.

Highlights include:

Kick-off reception at the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center followed by dinner next door at Surf City’s Community Center.

Keynote speaker at the member meeting on Saturday is Walker Golder, Atlantic Flyway Coast Director at National Audubon Society.

Guided hikes and excursions will showcase the natural beauty and special places along the MST route in Pender and Oslow counties.
