In mining, you have the mother lode and then the rewarding veins that snake from it. Such is the case with the Mountains-to-Sea Trail. For much of its 1,175-mile journey, the trail both piggybacks and interacts with a variety of other Tarheel trails. Barbara Morgan and her crew made this delightful discovery hiking the 4.6-mile Leg 2 of Segment 2 along the Blue Ridge Parkway. “Had a great hike,” says Barbara, “made even better by Bob Beach’s suggestion that we start at the Scott Creek Overlook to add 2 miles of woods trail since our leg had a lot of walking on gravel road and the BRP.  Thanks, Bob, Susan, and Diane.”
