The MST is fortunate to have many Trail Angels, volunteers who provide assistance to long-distance hikers ranging from local information to lodging and food.

We greatly appreciate our Trail Angels’ willingness to give back to the hiking community and the MST. If you are interested in becoming a Trail Angel, please contact Friends through our Volunteer page.

Our list of Trail Angels is only available to those hikers who have registered to hike the MST. This basic safeguard and level of accountability is a small step to help ensure the privacy and security of our Trail Angels as well as the hiking community.

In addition, we share some of the information in the registration form with our Trail Angels so they know a little about the hikers they will be meeting. Sharing information with Trail Angels is purely voluntary, and if you opt not to do so, you will still have access to the list; however, some Trail Angels may take this into account when deciding whether to accept a particular request from a hiker.

If you have not registered and would like access to the Trail Angel list, please register now and you will immediately receive an email with a link to the list. The registration form and trail angel list are meant for hikers who intend to complete the MST. We hope that if you take advantage of these resources, you will have that intent, but we also understand that life can get in the way, and not everyone who signs up will complete the journey.

If you have already registered and have not received an email from us explaining the new policy and providing the link, please email us at info@mountainstoseatrail.org.

Hiker & Trail Angel Etiquette

The Trail Angel community that supports hikers on the Mountains-to-Sea Trail is friendly, eager to help and essential in many parts in the state. As the MST continues to grow in popularity, reliance on volunteer Trail Angels is also growing. Because this relationship is critical, we’ve developed common sense guidelines for the hiker and trail angel network.
