Seeking FMST volunteers to lead small groups of Wake Co. Big Sweep volunteers in a trailhead/parking area litter clean up.  We need about 5-10 folks to join us as small group leaders. Ideally, you would be familiar with the MST Segment 10- Falls Lake Trail Eastern trailheads/parking lots.

8:00 am Meeting spot:  Blue Jay Point County Park 3200 Pleasant Union Church Rd.

All interested should meet in the Blue Jay Point parking lot near the MST distance sign. The address is 3200 Plesant Union Church Rd. After we meet and discuss the clean-up project for the day and review safety, we will split up into cleanup groups and “scatter out” to do our trailhead cleanup work. Driving directions and maps of the specific MST Trailhead cleanup locations will be provided during the introduction and overview. Group leaders will help to guide volunteers to the trailhead. Group leaders will also collect tools from volunteers at the end of the cleanup and return them to the meeting spot.  Group leaders will report the number of trash bags and recycle bags filled and take a photo of the volunteers at the end of the cleanup.

  1. Our major task for the day is to clean up litter at MST designated parking lots/trailheads along the Falls Lake Trail East section of MST Segment 10.

  3. Gather all trash at the trailhead, count and report the number of trash & recycle bags, and take a photo with volunteers

  5. Encourage volunteers to go for a hike on the MST afterward
