This part of the Neusiok Trail has nice vistas of the Newport River and surrounding salt and freshwater marshes and mixed pine and hardwood forest. This is a less strenuous section with mild elevation changes and a wide path. We have the option of walking 2 miles, 4 miles, or 6 miles depending on how far you want to go.

Meet at Duncan Landing at the end of Forest Road 181. Duncan Landing is next to Oyster Point Campground.

Directions: From Newport NC take Mill Creek Road (State Road 1154) east 5.5 miles to FR 181. Turn right on FR 181 and go to the end of the road.

From Beaufort take NC 101 west to Harlow Creek. After crossing Harlow Creek, turn left on Old Winberry Rd. Follow Winberry Rd till it ends then turn right on Mill Creek Rd (SR 1154). Turn at the next left on FR 181, Oyster Pt Road and drive to the end of the road

Wear sturdy walking shoes and appropriate clothing for the weather, including light rain if forecast.
