Our February FMST Eno River section workday of 2024 is Saturday, February 24th 9AM-2PM. We will be meeting at the River Forest Park parking area in Durham, at 1000 Windermere Dr.

We have a lot of work to do, and will be doing some trail repairs – particularly repairing some stone steps, removing trash, and removing invasive privet. The small privet we will pull by hand. The larger privet we will pull out with the weed wrenches, and the largest privet we will cut down.

I want to thank all of you who came out to the January workday. It was a great day, and you did a great job repairing the trail at the site of a former bridge and removed a great deal of trash as well as some privet.

At River Forest Park we have made great progress over the past several years reducing the amount of invasive privet and want to make more progress this year. Much of the largest privet along the river is now gone. Removing this invasive will hopefully allow more native trees to grow along the Eno River.

For the workdays you will need to dress appropriately for the weather. Wear work clothes you can get dirty, long pants, boots or solid shoes, bring water, snacks, lunch if you plan to stay all day.

We will provide tools.

To attend the workday, please RSVP and to be added to the Eno River workday notification email list, please contact FMST Task Force Leader Fred Dietrich.
