Beginning October 6, 2025, part of Segment 11 between Auburn Knightdale Rd. and Brownfield Rd. (EB Miles 22.8-24.8; WB Miles 41.4-43.3) will be closed for construction of an extension to I-540. The closure is expected to last through February 2028. We have not been able to determine whether any roads will be closed as well. The following detour assumes roads will remain open; if we find that roads are closed, we will attempt to update the detour route accordingly.

Eastbound Directions

0.0         At Mile 22.8, after crossing under Auburn Knightdale Rd., turn right at trail junction.

0.1         Pass through parking lot, then turn left on Auburn Knightdale Rd.

0.6         At 4-way intersection next to gas station, turn left on Battle Bridge Rd.

1.5         Cross over tunnel for closed section of MST.

2.0         At intersection with solar farm on right and white fence ahead, turn right on Brownfield Rd.

2.2         At crosswalk, turn left onto greenway to rejoin the guide route at Mile 24.8.

Westbound Directions

0.0         At Mile 41.4, instead of crossing Brownfield Rd., turn right.

0.2         At intersection with gated road ahead, turn left on Battle Bridge Rd.

0.7         Cross over tunnel for closed section of MST.

1.5         At 4-way intersection with gas station, turn right on Auburn Knightdale Rd.

2.1         Across from La Costa Way, turn right into Neuse River Trail parking lot. At back end of parking lot, turn continue onto greenway connector trail.

2.2         At T-intersection, turn left to rejoin the guide route at Mile 43.3.
