Fall is finally on its way and so is good weather for hiking and working on the MST in the Coastal Crescent! Down in Sampson County we are fortunate that we now have established trail to maintain at the Pondberry Bay Preserve and new trail to finish building along our recently acquired easement in West Roseboro.

So, we will be working throughout the MST’s birthday month to get them ready for hikers during the long-awaited cool season. Come join us for scouting, blazing, cutting back vegetation, and leveling the trail “tread” at both locations. Please be sure to register at the links below or through our CERVIS portal.

WHERE: Western District Park Parking Lot @ 701 Clinton Street Roseboro NC

WHAT TO BRING: Extra water, gloves, sun screen, rakes, pointed shovels, mattocks, loppers/clippers, hand saws, as well as snacks and/or a packed lunch. Please make sure to label your tools/gloves so that yours go home with you. If you don’t have any of these tools, we will make sure to provide what is needed.

WEAR: Sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, long socks, a hat for sun protection.

We are so excited to continue expanding and improving the MST here and look forward to doing it with your help! I’ll send a reminder and weather update a few days ahead of time to those who have registered and if weather becomes an issue I will update on the workday status 24 hours in advance.
