Pisgah National Forest Work Day Along Steels Creek
We are going back to Steels Creek section starting at the top on USFS Rd 496. We will hike in to first creek crossing (about a mile) and then start working on the other side of the creek. We will be trimming, cleaning out water diversions and refining tread where necessary. Total will be about 2 miles in and then back out.
Bring daypack, gloves, lunch, snacks and fluids for day (2 liter minimum). We will be crossing Steels Creek, so bring river shoes. We will supply tools unless you want to bring one of your favorite.
Meet at K-Mart in Morganton at 8:30 or at store on Hwy 181 and Brown Mountain Beach at 8:45 or at trailhead at 9 (be sure you know the location of the trailhead).
