Hillsborough to Eno River State Park Guided Hike

We will again hold a guided hike from Hillsborough to the Eno River State Park, led by Bill Boyarsky, Fred Dietrich and John McCulloch. This a physically demanding hike with 5-6 miles of bushwhacking along the proposed trail to connect the Hillsborough section of the MST with the Cox Mountain Trail in Eno River State Park (ERSP) for a total of 8-9 miles.
The hike will consist of:
- Part of Hillsborough’s Riverwalk
- Classic American Homes Preservation Trust trail
- Pass the Occoneechee Speedway
- The James M. Johnson Nature Preserve trail
- Bushwacking ERSP land
- The Cox Mountain Trail in ERSP
- Cross the ERSP suspension bridge
Meet at 9 am at the Fews Ford parking (the end of Cole Mill Road) near the restrooms. We will carpool to downtown Hillsborough where we will park in the public parking deck near Weaver Street Market.
Bring lunch, water and snacks and dress for the weather in clothes that can get muddy. Sections of the hike will be on uneven ground, through high brush, crossing drainages, steep slopes and potentially marshy areas.
