Coastal Crescent Workdays (2 of 3)
November 17 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The holiday season is here and so is the perfect weather for working on the MST in the Coastal Crescent! November is gearing up to be a busy month for us and we have 3 exciting days of trail work scheduled for ongoing projects inner Coastal Plain communities!
These workdays will all offer both basic trail maintenance work that doesn’t require special skills or training like cutting limbs or raking, as well as more technical installation of trail infrastructure like bollards and a trail kiosk. No matter what your level of experience is, there are great ways for everyone to contribute!
Monday, November 17: 12:00pm – 4:00pm
Where: Meet at the entrance of Straw Den Lane near Roseboro, NC.
What: Final scout of whole trail and clearing/smoothing before grand opening!
DIRECTIONS: Straw Den Lane near Roseboro, NC is a private drive off of White Woods Road where Friends of the MST owns a 2.5 acre property and has developed a trailhead parking area; that parking area is the first left on this private drive and will be marked.
WHAT TO BRING: heavy rakes, loppers, hand saws, clippers, mattocks, extra water, gloves, sun screen, snacks and/or a packed lunch. Please make sure to label your tools/gloves so that yours go home with you. If you don’t have any of these tools, we will make sure to provide what is needed.
WEAR: sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, long socks, a hat for sun protection.
We are so excited for our new sections of trail at these two locations and can’t wait to enjoy working on them with you! Cell service can be spotty in these locations, but my number is below if you have any issues the day of. I’ll send a reminder and weather update a few days ahead of time to those who have registered and if weather becomes an issue I will update on the workday status 24 hours in advance.
Feel free to reach out with any questions. See you there!
