Where: Meet at Camp Chamblee in Bladen Lakes State Forest.
These workdays will all be centered around basic trail maintenance work that is not overly strenuous and doesn’t require special skills or training. This will include leveling the trail bed, cutting back vegetation, and removing debris.
DIRECTIONS: Camp Chamblee in Bladen Lakes State Forest is a primitive campground at the end of the wide dirt road “Camp Chamblee Trail” which must be accessed from Sweet Home Church Road. The Ranger Station in Turnbull Creek Educational State Forest is located at 4803 Sweet Home Church Road and very easy to find.
WHAT TO BRING: heavy rakes, loppers, clippers, NO POWER TOOLS, extra water, gloves, sun screen, snacks and/or a packed lunch (except for events where lunch is provided). Please make sure to label your tools so that yours go home with you. If you don’t have any of these tools, we will provide what is needed.
WEAR: sturdy closed-toe shoes, long pants, long socks, a hat for sun protection.
COMPLIMENTARY LUNCH: Sandwiches and chips will be provided for attendees on 12/1 and 12/22. To help us know how much to order, please make sure to register for those events in advance (links above). If you have special dietary restrictions please let us know so we can accommodate those needs.
We are so excited to add more natural surface trail in Bladen County and hope to see you there! Cell service can be spotty in these locations, but my number is below if you have any issues the day of. I’ll send a reminder and weather update a few days ahead of time to those who have registered and if weather becomes an issue I will update on the workday status 24 hours in advance.
Feel free to reach out with any questions. See you there!
